This isn’t a very festive post, but if you’re interested in learning about why we get fat and what we can do about it, this is a good book.
It does go into a lot of detail, about insulin and hormones etc, but it can help explain why we hold onto fat and how we burn it off. Why some people hold onto fat more than others, and what makes that happen.
It explains what we can do about getting fat, and really does give a good and informed perspective where diets aren’t needed but maybe different ways of thinking about food can help.
I’ve had it in the book format and audio format for a few years now, and I’ve just relistened to the audiobook.
It talks about tests on rats and how sometimes, depending on our genes and even our time in the womb, we might be destined to get fat. It also about insulin intolerance and how that works, and what we can do to get rid of fat. with lots of clear explanation and sources behind it.
So how fat we are isn’t just about how much food we eat, how many calories we intake vs how much activity we do. I think it’s interesting and if you fancy it, give it a buy / read.
If you don’t fancy reading it, but have a spare 70 minutes – watch this:
