It’s been a long 4 weeks, but today I’m back to work after sorting a lot out, and helping my brother sort things too.
Last night it felt a bit like going back to school after the summer holidays, only it wasn’t summer and it wasn’t holidays. I’m very lucky to have been able to have the time off that I did to sort stuff out.
Most days seemed to be so productive, busy doing stuff, traveling here, phoning or seeing this person or that. Bit by bit getting everything sorted.
My BBC Work went out the window and my colleagues covered me, but it was actually nice (and normal) to log into my work emails and know exactly what to do – compared to the decisions I had to make or the alien things I needed to do, like travel to a place I didn’t know and go to funeral directors and lawyers I didn’t know.
It’s all sorted now though, and I’m back to work today and back to normality before Christmas.
Running has also gone out the window a bit, but I’ll get back to it. I know I will as it’s so good when I do it. I’m not promising anything, but I’m hoping to go a run at lunchtime today once I’ve sorted my work inbox out. Then I’ll try to do it most days too.
Now for some other news. I got a phone calls the other day to say my Dad is in hospital.
He’s broken / crushed a bone in his back! (F@£k) I thought, but it turns out we think it’s ok. It appears he’s not done too much damage and he’s fit to recover from it.
He went about his life for a few days, with a bit of a sore back… then they realised it wasn’t quite right and went into the hospital to check it out. A crush to the L1 vertebrae! There are no complications with it and it should heal naturally.
He’s doing well and he’s getting a brace to help him remain still. For some reason I had a feeling he’d be ok, and he is. Just a few more days in hospital.
I’m going to keep running simple and say I’m going to run every day, and if I don’t, I don’t – aiming to run at least 3 times a week so over my 2015km goal for the year. Fingers crossed I make it. 1,252 miles.
