Here’s a recipe for some easy peasy porridge. Scrap the convenience high sugar packets of porridge, and make it from scratch.
I got the recipe here, on the Guardian website: http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/wordofmouth/2011/nov/10/how-to-cook-perfect-porridge
The changes I made was to not include dates, but I put in:
– chopped walnuts
– a sliced banana
– a small handful of blueberries
I made enough for 2-3 portions:
1 – 1 cup of oats, toasted them for a bit.
2 – Add 1 cup of milk and 2 cups of water, cook on medium to high until it boils (maybe 5-10 mins). 3 – Add chopped walnuts, salt, sugar and honey.
4 – Once it’s nearly ready, add the sliced banana and the blueberries. (Not too early or the blueberries will burst).
5. Put into bowl (about 2 ladels full), add sugar if you want. 6. Add cold milk and serve.
Yummy.
