Wk50 into Wk51

A week filled with rest, running, walking, fun and strength training, here’s what I did last week, the cold, wet and mostly dark week before Christmas week:

Mon: Rest
Tue: 9M easy run
Wed: Rest
Thu: 5M easy run & Christmas lunch out
Fri: Rest & 7M walking (trip to Edinburgh)
Sat: 30 min spin & 45 mins squat strength
Sun: Rest

3-4 rest days, and 2 runs meaning I have around 18 miles to go (and two weeks) to get to 1000 miles run in 2014.

The squat strength on Saturday has left me sore, sore hamstrings, neck and shoulders. The spin was good but I’m looking forward to some low intensity stuff next week.

Here’s the plan for Christmas week:

Mon: 30 min spin & 5M run
Tue: Deadlift Strength
Wed: 5M run
Thu: Rest (Christmas Day)
Fri: 4-6M run
Sat: 30 min spin & 45 min squat strength
Sun: Rest

I’ll also be looking at including more meat and vegetables into what I eat.

Along the lines of Mark Sisson’s ‘The Primal Blueprint’ book. I know I don’t eat enough veg, so this will hopefully be the start of me getting more of my energy from nutritious, colourful and natural foods (instead of sugary / processed foods).

I’ll spend the next few weeks getting a plan together, and playing about with food and exercise, before starting afresh in the New Year.
