Wk7 into Wk8

Last week was good, plenty of running and plenty of rest. Early morning runs are key, and last week I was up very early two mornings to run. I ran 35 miles in total across 4 runs.

Here’s what I did:

Mon: 16M run before work
Tue: Rest
Wed: 5.4M run coaching (PM)
Thu: 5M very easy run (PM)
Fri: 8.7M run before work
Sat: Rest Day
Sun: Coaching and Swim Teaching

No swimming as I couldn’t face another headache, although I do have a new nose clip which might help, and am going to try some sinutab before a swim too. See if it helps.

I’m pleased to see the sun coming up earlier than it has been. I was out at 630am on Friday and just after the sun was coming up. Good stuff. Spring is on it’s way!

This week is going to be a bit different. I’m giving blood on Monday morning so rest needs to be around that. Here’s the plan:

Mon: Rest / Give Blood
Tue: Rest
Wed: 5M run
Thu: Swim / massage
Fri: 17M long run with the girls
Sat: Rest / Inverness?
Sun: 4M run wi Fit Girl

I’m also on holiday this Friday, and every Friday in March. 4 day weeks! Yahoooooo! A lot of rest and recovery this coming week, then about 8 weeks to the marathon.

The other day, after a lot of deliberation, I decided I’d buy myself the new Garmin 620. I was originally put off by the colours (and the fact I don’t really NEED one), but I must take after my Dad with his love of gadgets, and I bought the white and orange one the other day. I should receive it early next week. 🙂

What else has been happening? On Thursday night last week I met up with Eilidh, a countryside ranger for the Dams to Darnley Country Park.

She’s the one who asked me if I’d take her beginner running coaching group for 10 weeks from April. We did a recce run on Thursday night and I’m looking forward to the sessions which will start on 9th April, all going well.

Finally, it’s been 12 weeks since I started my strength training (and stopped doing it in the last 4 weeks). I did three very distinct different ways of training and eating, and I’m going to review all three soon. So look out for that. 🙂

Have a good weekend.
