This January I took the focus away from running and focussed more on strength training, nutrition and recovery.
I also helped a colleague at work start running, doing around 2 runs a week with her in lunchtime.
With about one long run (8 miles), the mileage was a lot lower than normal, but I’m ok with that. It’s nice to get a bit of a break from running and take time out before marathon training.
So 68 miles for January and I’ll be picking up my long runs from next Saturday. 14 or 15 miles or so (if I still remember how to do it) ;-).
In my weekly training, I plan to do 1 long run, 1 easy (or coaching) run and 1 speedwork run.
And also aim for 2-3 strength workouts a week. I just need to figure out when to fit them all in.
13 weeks to the marathon – time to remind myself how to run!
