I may be a Gadget whore…

My name is Lorn Pearson and I am a gadget whore. There. I’ve said it.  😉   I admit that I am a gadget whore.

Since I broke my third Nike Fuelband a few weeks back… you’d have thought I’d have given up on Nike the Fuelband… but since I’ve not had it, I’ve missed it on my arm.

I got my refund for my Fuelband the other day, then this news came out today:
Nike shows off Fuelband SE activity tracking wristband.

I had a feeling something was in the offing as there was no stock of the old Fuelband, so I figured Nike was up to something.

I had the money sitting in the bank from the last one, so I figured I might as well give the new one a go.  I might break it again (I think I might be too active for it… 2 million fuel points in just over a year)… but if I don’t try it out I won’t know.  🙂  And if it does break, they’ll either replace it or give me my money back… so I can’t really lose. I’ve pre ordered it from Nike, and it should be with me by mid November.

I got the pink one to match my pink trainers, pink water bottle and my soon to be worn pink bridesmaid dress… lol.   Chief Bridesmaid I’m going to be… at my best friends wedding (only so they can get me in a dress and out of my trainers!)

Not only have I bought the new Nike Fuelband… I also have my eye on the new Gamin 620… but I’m telling myself I really don’t need it (because I don’t!!)

As Greg suggested – ‘the 620 looks like it has more IQ that I do!’  :-O    I will refrain – for now!  (Plus the colours aren’t very nice yet – I think)… better get off to bed!

Are the Nike fuel bands worth their money/time/use?

HI Alexander. Its a hard question – I think they’re a good motivator to make people more active… but if you’re already active, or very active like me… you might break them … again and again. I’ve had three so far (replaced as they died on me). So for that reason I’d probably say they’re not worth it. But they can be motivational, are a nice little gadget and look good on your wrist. I’ve gone for my 4th one mainly because I know that Nike will refund or replace this one if it goes faulty / dies on me again. They are expensive though, and if they break like everyone I know (about 8 in total – friends too).. then you have to wonder if they’re worth it! 🙂
