Sick Bug Central: Ain’t nobody got time for that!

The sick bug has got me. I can honestly say this is the worst I’ve felt in years. It feels like a really really really bad hangover (but of course I haven’t even drinking). ‘One in five people in Scotland may have been hit by norovirus in the past year, according to new figures.’ I think we can safely add my name to the list. 😦

(More info here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-20903489 )

It started yesterday (Sunday) when I oddly went off my food at lunch. I forced it down as I was feeling hunger pangs, but even though I wasn’t wanting to eat, I knew I needed to eat for energy. Then later in the evening I just felt wiped out and really dehydrated, and really not myself.

I was in bed early after attempting to eat a nice dinner of chicken and veg, but again I couldn’t stomach it. I had a few mouthfuls then gave up. Light headed, disorientated, nausea and just generally rough feeling. Through the night I was sick and had a funny / cramps tummy.

Hot and cold and shivery. :-/ My mouth felt so dry it was as if I’d taken a bunch of decongestants: clearly dehydration. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

Today I felt even worse: Sweats, dehydrated, sore head, sick. I had to take the day off work and spent it in bed. My other half suggested I go to the Drs, but I had a feeling there was nothing they could do and I’d probably just spread it anyway (which is correct: see the advice below).

My brother and Dad are GPs anyway and when I text them they suggested what I figured anyway: sleep, rest, water, paracetamol and no food.

Yesterday when I felt so weak, I thought I’d better not do my usual planned fast today, but low and behold I don’t think I could have faced any food (it’s hard enough getting water down), so I’m now around 22 hrs without food. Perhaps my easiest fast to date? Lol

I’m hoping Super Lorn can get over this bug soon. I was even using positive thinking last night to try and feel better: ‘I feel fine, I feel fine.’ – instead of – ‘omg I’m dying’. 😉 I’m sure it will help.

If you’ve got the bug, here’s some information about it: symptoms, treatment, prevention:

This was meant to be my first week training for my marathon, but obviously that will be delayed now, probably to the end of the week, or into next week. I’m going to make plenty time to get better and get over this little monster. So no training for me for a while, I don’t think I’d have the energy anyway! There’s plenty of time for training after I get better.

I thought I’d finish off with this funny: the story behind it isn’t funny, but I like the video.

‘Ain’t nobody got time for that!’
