I’ve set up a page on my blog called Fasting which holds links to more information about fasting and it’s benefits, but in the meantime, I’m going to write about the method of intermittent fasting I’m going to try (until my holiday in 3 weeks time).
I’M GOING TO TRY: CONDENSED WINDOW FASTING: 1/6
The Horizon programme Eat, Fast and Live Longer suggests you do Alternate Day Fasting (eat normal one day, fast the next), or do 2/5, fast for two days and eat normally the remaining 5 days of the week.
I’m a bit of a wimp, and I’m currently exercising / training around 6 days week, so I’m going to try 1/6 days: fasting for one day (Friday: my rest day). I’m not going to fast completely, but I’m going to try Condensed Window Fasting:
Condensed Window Fasting is where you eat between certain times of the day, then you fast until the next morning.
So I’m going to eat like this:
8am – 2pm: Protein shake at 8am & 11am then lunch of meat / protein / veggies at 1pm.
2pm – 8am: Fast, drinking water and green tea only.
And if I get on ok with that, I’ll maybe try it for 2/5 days when I get back from my holidays. 🙂 On the days I eat normally, I’ll probably eat like this: What I eat… I’ll be fueling my exercise and trying to get as much nutrients from my intake as possible. 🙂
I guess it’s kind of reminding me of the hunter gatherers… they would go empty for a certain time period (hours / days) until they caught their next meal or found their next bit of fruit / berries or nuts…
If you’re interested in Fasting, or Intermittent Fasting, I’d suggest checking out my Fasting page and see whether it might be something you might be able to fit into your life.
Have you ever tried intermittent fasting? What did you think? Wish me luck!
