Having gone to the gym this morning and having at least two full rest days ahead of me (and because the sun was splitting the sky) I decided I’d do a nice easy 10 mile run tonight after work.
I fancied some company, but no one was taking me up on the offer so I left the flat just after 6, just me, my Garmin and Emeli Sande on my iPod. 🙂
I’m missing my good bud Jackie to run with and I decided I’d do part of our loop de loop run on part of tonight’s route. And I had to offer to meet Jane and her running club, but I decided I’d try a nice run on my own instead.
A short while into the run I noticed a little green fly on my watch. I was going to ping it away, but missed and it stayed on there. Gordon (I named him 😉 ) stayed with me the whole run. 😀
It was a gorgeous night and I decided I’d try to take it easy. I was being careful and trying to keep my heart rate below 150 (80%) for the duration. Pace didn’t matter, I’d be slower on the uphills and faster in the downhills, I just wanted to try and keep myself from working hard.
I succeeded in keeping every mile (except mile 9 at the slight hill on maxwell drive) to keep my avg heart rate at 150 or below. 🙂
Can you see Gordon the greenfly in the pics above? He had a great time going around Glasgow in the sun with me. Keeping me company all the way. I tried to make him fly away in the flat and I had a horrible feeling I’d squished him. Lol. But he ended up flying away outside. 😉
Here’s me finished… Can you spot asda and jasper? 😉 See here if you’re wondering who the heck I’m talking about: http://asdaandjaspersadventures.wordpress.com/
I was going to do 10.7 miles down near the Gorbals, but an hour in I met Jane and her crew so I ran with her for a mile or so on a hill rep / speed rep before going on to finish and change the end to my route.
I know that part of town so well now I now exactly where to go to make up the miles. I ran through Pollok Park and thought of many people, Jackie, Julie Ann, Fit Girl; was running past maxwell park and thought of Julia. Along Albert Drive and thought of Aimee. 🙂
I had a good easy run in what was apparently 22’C heat (?): 10 miles in just under 1:30, 700 cals, Avg HR: 148 (78%) max HR: 160 (84%), Garmin Training Effect: 3.5.
Here’s the route on Garmin: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/203069997
Back home to a tasty and healthy sized portion / dinner of salad, chicken and balsamic vinegar.
I’m a tiger again. 🙂
(if you don’t know what I mean, listen to this, my favourite song just now, perhaps of all time):
Love it. 🙂
