Wk6 – 5M Winter Series wi Gill

It’s now two days after my long run (26.2 miles up Gleniffer Braes) and I must be doing something right as I’m not stiff from it and my energy levels are fine.  🙂  Woo hoo. 


It must be that magic Coffee Crunch smoothie I had… or maybe the Sirloin steak for afters I had… or maybe the Sausage Supper I had the night before… 😉 

Or maybe I’m just getting used to the distances.  🙂  It feels good anyway.  I feel very fortunate to be in this position and be able to do what I’m doing.

Teaching swimming yesterday was fine.  My hamstrings were a little tight, but I had full range of movement and was able to crouch down and kick and all the other things you need to do when demonstrating what you want the kids to do.  I even went in for an hour at the end to help some kids and adults. 

My eyes were and have been a bit blurry… even with glasses on.  My eyesight seems fine when I’m not tired, then after a long run, it deteriorates a lot.  It sometimes feels like there’s a film over my eye/s.  I’ve got an appointment with the optician on Wednesday, so we’ll see what he has to say. 

Monday morning and I ran with Gill.  She wasn’t feeling too good (stuffed up with a cold), so I agreed we’d take it slow.  Suits me anyway as all I wanted to do was break my legs in after the long run.  She held a good steady pace throughout and did well. 🙂 

It was cold (0’C) and very misty when I got up and out.  I met Gill at Bella at 630am and we ran anti clockwise around our Nithsdale Road route.  I like it better that way as we get the downhill on Nithsdale towards the end. 🙂  I felt good running and my heart rate was kept really low.

The fog was really eerie at points, and made the route seem a bit different. 

It was a good way to wake up on a Monday morning anyway. And a nice easy aerobic run to start the week.
