Wk46 – 4.3M Maxwell Park

After my long run on Saturday I felt pretty good.  On Sunday I wasn’t sore, apart from a little niggle on the top of my right foot where I went over my ankle.

I’ve managed somehow to slightly strain the muscle on the top of my foot where my foot meets my ankle on the top.  It’s very odd, but it’s not sore when I run, hence the reason I was probably able to continue after I twisted it on Saturday.

It’s only sore when I move my foot up  (dorsiflexion).  Looking at this picture, it seems like it’s my ‘extensor hallucis longus’ muscle that’s hurt.  Self diagnosis or what?! Hopefully it eases off soon anyway.

Monday morning and I was admant that I wanted to loosen off with a nice easy short run before the week started.

I’ve missed starting my week with a run, and missed running my Maxwell Park route, so I did both this morning.

At 620am this morning, getting out of my bed to run was a bit of a thought.  I was VERY tempted to give it a miss, but I knew it would be worth it once I did it.

In the back of my mind I was telling myself I should rest up after my long run on Saturday, but I’m going to make sure I don’t over do the running this week.  This might be my first of 2 or 3 shorter runs this week.

It was about 5’C when I went out with a slight cold wind in unsheletered areas.  I wore shorts, and I’m glad I wore my long top and cap.  Just right.

I ran very steadily for about 3 miles, then aided by the downhill for the last mile and a bit, picked up my pace a little.

I was sad I didn’t see Old Dog on my travels (I used to see a golden labrador on his, very slow, walkies when I went out at that time on that route)… but today he was no where to be seen. 😦  Hopefully he’s ok.  I did however pass a few commuters, cyclists and a runner.

At the start of the run my left hip felt a little tender, but it eased off as I ran.  And luckily I didn’t get any bad feeling from my foot strain.  🙂  I’m so chuffed that I can run like I did on Saturday and not feel sore after it!!

Today I think it was possibly the slowest time I’ve ever done that route in, but it was a nice slow and steady recovery run. Just what I needed. 😀

Run: 4.3M, 37:33, Pace: 8:42, Calories: 277
Ave HR: 133 (70%), Max HR: 145 (76%), Garmin Training Effect: 2.6

Here are some more pictures of the lovely sunrise…which I incidentally missed as it was still dark by the time I got back!  That’ll be Winter on it’s way then.  :-S
