Hill Walk up Ben More, Stob Binnien & Stob Coire an Lochain

Saturday and Sunday were meant to be gorgeous days so we decided we would take advantage of it and go away hill walking on Sunday.  We got up early and left the flat for 7am.  The skies were clear and it was forecast to be about 20-22’C.  We decided we were going to climb Ben More and go on to climb Stob Binnien straight after it.  We started our walk at 8:30am and got back to the car at 16:45

Here are some photos of our 8.25 hour walk … up Ben More (1174m) across to Stob Binnein (1165m another Munro) then along the ridge to Stob Coire an Lochain (1068m a Munro top) then along to Creag Atair and down into the valley along Inverlochlarig Glen and up and over to Benmore Glen then home. We hadn’t planned the extended walk along the ridge and through the valley but we could see so far and it was such a nice day that it seemed like a good idea.

The funniest part of the day was when I was crossing a river and was told… ‘be careful you don’t slip’ and just as I was saying ‘I won’t slip’… I fell into the river.  I managed to stop myself from falling right in, so my bum, legs, feet and shorts were the only thing to get wet… but it was pretty funny and I didn’t hurt myself luckily.   My shorts dried off in no time with the heat and sun.

Here are some pictures anyway:

Here is the route…:  http://connect.garmin.com/player/101450065

My garmin ran out after 9 miles (I added the orange dotted line for where we walked back but he Garmin missed it), but I think we did about 13-14 miles.  Great day for it.  Stunning views. Macdonald’s milkshake at the end for me. 😉

Here are some videos:

Me sort of running down part of Stob Binnien:

And today my legs are ok… my quads feel a little tender but nothing too bad.  😀

That’s our 6th and 7th Munro done now, it has to be one of my most favourite hill walks I’ve done yet.  Here’s the list of the munros I’ve done:

1. Ben Lomond
2. Ben Lui
3. Ben Nevis
4. Ben Ime
5. Ben Vorlich
6. Ben More
7. Stob Binnien (7.5. Stob Coire an Lochain (Munro top))
