Wk27 – Run then Lorn’s Tabata Circuits with Gill

Thursday morning and I’d arranged to meet Gill again at Bella for some circuits.  I’ve not been settle dwith the circuits we’ve been doing and in the last two weeks I’ve been playing about with different exercises.

The workout consists of 10-15 minuts of warm up run on the treadmill, followed by 10 exercises, repeated 4 times (30 secs work: 15 secs rest)

All of the treadmills and machines at Bella are in kph which is a bit weird when I always train with my garmin in mph, but I’ve got used to it.  Oddly the treadmill I was on today was in mph and I noticed when I was running what I thought was a very fast 8kph!  I adjusted it down to 7mph.

Today I decided I would throw in some of the exercises we’d done in Instanity, so away from any resistance work and more towards more cardio work.

Here’s what the tabata circuits consisted of:

10 exercises, 30:15 work:rest, 30 minutes
JUMPING JACKS
PRESS UP JACKS
SPRINTS
SWITCH KICKS
MOUNTAIN CLIMBERS
POWER KNEES
GLOBE JUMPS
LOW PLANK OBLIQUE
POWER JUMPS
V SIT UPS

(The optional extras are SUICIDE JUMPS or BASKETBALL JUMPS – to replace POWER KNEES or PLANK WALK UP to replace V SIT UPS)

It was an excellent workout… I was sweating a lot again, and was really working hard.  We got a bit of chat in, but not as much as when we run together (we were just too out of breath!)  I can see I worked hard as my max HR was up at 92% and my average was 72%!

It’s nice to know that we are fit enough to get through workouts like this!

Run: 1.69M, 14:30, 8:34 minute miles, Calories: 170
Ave HR: 145 (77%), Max HR: 155 (82%)

Lorn’s Tabata Circuits: 30 minutes, 10 exercises, 30:15, Calories: 370
Ave HR: 137 (72%) Max HR: 173 (92%)

I think I may just have found my ideal ‘Lorn’s Tabata Circuit workout’. 😀
