Wk8 – 8M figure of 8 loops

Wednesday night and I decided I’d do my long run instead of doing it on Saturday morning. My long run this week was only planned to be 8 miles, so I’d do the usual 4 miles around the Clyde then do the Maxwell Park route. It ended up being a figure of 8.

8 miles, in a figure of 8 in week 8 of my training. I think I need help. 😛

I ran the first 4 with my friend. We ran along the Clyde and had to stop a few times for traffic (7 in total!). Usually we get by ok but tonight we had to stop loads at traffic lights.

Then about 2 miles in we were running West along the Clyde. There was a bit of daylight in the distance, but big dark grey clouds over the rest of the sky. Rain I thought. 😦

Then 3 miles in just as we passed the Armadillo it started pouring heavily. I was running past the STV building and I was thinking ‘I’m not doing the next 4 miles in this’. But by the time we got back to the flat the rain was off and I went for my second 4 mile run.

I picked up the pace a little and finished the 8 miles in just under an hour and 10 minutes. The weather seemed to improve a bit when I was out and the traffic was a little less busy. I know why I like running in the mornings instead of the evenings.
