Wk7 – 4.3M Maxwell Park Easy

Tuesday morning and it was an effort to go for a run.  My calves are still tight from Saturday’s long fast run.  But I’m pretty sure the run this morning was good for them.

It seemed slower than normal, and it was, but not by much. It was was it was meant to be – an easy recovery run. 😀

It was cold – maybe 0’C and a little icy so I had to watch where I put my feet.  I still managed 8:30 minute miles so it can’t have been that bad.  I think it just seemed slower as i tend to want to run fast when I’m on my own.

I was wearing my Nike 3/4 length trousers, my helly hansen warm top, my saucony long sleeved top and my buff for my ears as usual.  I kept warm throughout but did notice it cold, especially when I stopped, my hands were freezing!  I wouldn’t have worn gloves as my hands get too hot.

I was listening to my new ‘marathon’ playlist to see how I’d get on with it for motivation.  Once again the sun rose as I was running home… lovely.  I ran the last mile and a bit faster than the first three, I guess I was just getting warmed up.

I have to say that this little 4.3 mile run was harder than the 22 mile run from Saturday!  Hopefully my calves will ease off today.  My heart rate was pretty good, not too high all the way round…easy recovery run. 😀

The next long run I’m doing will be at a slower pace and with Julie Ann to keep the chat going and take my mind off running.
