Ben Nevis – 19th June

Lets see if I can catch up with this and put on what I’ve done in the last week or so.

On Saturday the 19th of June, the day we were to climb Ben Nevis came. Luckily for us the weather was excellent and we started our climb just before 9am.  The Ben was busy, mainly because it was a Saturday, but also because it was a nice day, and because it’s usually busy at the weekend.  We had planned to leave earlier, but we tohougth a good breakfast inside of us was quite important.

The start was good, a bit of a steep climb up a well made path of boulders.  We managed to pass a large group of people, and continued to pass people on our way up.  The weather was nice and we managed to get some really good photos of the clear skies looking over all of the surrounding areas.

The hill seemed to go on and on and on, and after about an hour and three quarters I was seriously wondering if it was ever gonig to end.  Every bit we came to we thought it would be the top, then it wasn’t.  We managed to get to the summit in just over 2 hours and spent some time taking the usual photos and ate our lunch. (Made by the lady from the guest house).

We eventually spent about an hour up there and by the time we were going down, we were pretty cold.  We had thought about trying to take another route down, but in the end it was just too windy and too unknown for us to do.  The descent was fine, we just needed to watch where we were putting our feet.

We managed the full climb in just under 2 hours.  It was a really really good day.  And I even managed to get some sun bathing in in the garden after it.

WALK: 10.5 miles, 6 hours, Elevation gain: 4408ft, Ave HR: 117 (61%), Max HR: 164 (86%).
